Atsukaze Itaru (温風至) is the first micro-season within Shōsho, one of Japan's 24 seasonal divisions.

As the rainy season gradually comes to an end, the wind begins to change. Gentle breezes that once carried the scent of rain now arrive with a hint of warmth, quietly announcing the approach of midsummer.

Held around July 10, the Hōzuki Market is a beloved summer tradition at Sensō-ji Temple in Tokyo. It is said that offering prayers to Kannon on this special day brings the same spiritual merit as visiting the temple for 46,000 days, making it one of the most auspicious days of the year.

About Japan's 72 Seasons

Japan has long observed the changing seasons through a traditional calendar that divides the year into 24 seasonal divisions, known as Sekki.

Each division is further divided into three micro-seasons, creating a total of 72 Seasons (Shichijūni-kō). Lasting only a few days each, these seasons capture the subtle changes in nature—from blooming flowers and singing insects to ripening fruits and shifting landscapes.
